Why is knowledge so important? Why is knowledge so empowering? This video exemplifies the importance of why knowledge is so important and how it can save your life!

My endocrinologist was trying to convince me to take more insulin to control my blood glucose level. And, even though my blood glucose level was coming down, he was adamant about me increasing my insulin, Coumadin, Lipitor and other drugs to better control my diabetes.

However, being an engineer, I understood the data, and had determined that the doctor may be mistaken. Because I wasn’t 100% certain that the doctor was wrong, I increased my blood glucose testing to collect more data. Despite the fact that my average blood glucose and hemoglobin A1C were steadily coming down and had finally reached the normal range of a non-diabetic, my endocrinologist warned me that what was happening to me was an anomaly, and that I was going through the “honeymoon period”. And, within 1-2 months, my blood glucose level would return to the high levels.
