Because I was very fortunate to survive a diabetic coma, I believe that part of my responsibility is to share my experience, so that others will benefit and hopefully improve their health, and live a happier life — free from the drugs and the complications of diabetes: amputation, blindness, kidney dialysis, heart attack and stroke.
With my daughter Cynthia’s help, I wrote the book Death to Diabetes, to try to answer many of the questions that diabetics struggle with every day. Because of the book’s success, I have been asked to speak at many events. Unfortunately, most people found my talks to be too technical and boring. My daughter pointed out that I needed to share my personal stories, instead of focusing on all the medical and technical aspects of the disease.
Thanks to my daughter, I have modified my talks to share my personal story and try to use more humor during my speaking engagements. Here are some video clips from several of my speaking engagements, where I attempted to use more humor to educate the audience about diabetes and how to defeat the disease. I hope you agree …
